Find out which idea your customers prefer before the decision is made
You have three pack designs on the wall, or two ad routes, or a product idea nobody outside the building has seen. Someone will pick one soon. A concept test shows you which option your customers prefer and what puts them off, while there's still time to change it.
Answers reach your screen as customers send them, so you can read why they chose an option while the test is still running.
Survizo gives you an online community of your own customers, and every page they see carries your brand. Show them ideas and ask what they think whenever a decision is due. When the design changes, the same people are still there for round two.
Put the real thing in front of people
People react to what they can see, so show them the work itself, right above any question.
- Pack shots and ad frames open full screen. People zoom in to read the small print, the way they would in a shop.
- Customers turn a 3D model of your bottle or device to see it from every side.
- A clickable prototype from your design tool lets people try an app or a checkout. Survizo records their clicks and missed clicks, so you see where they get stuck.
Under the design, ask what you need to know. If you'd rather not write the questions, describe the decision and Survizo's AI drafts them for you to edit. You can also ask a single video question and let customers answer in their own words.
See which option your customers pick
- Which pack would they take home? Show the options side by side as pictures and ask for a favourite.
- What do they read first? Ask customers to tap the first thing they notice. Their taps add up to one heat map over your design.
- Which claim actually persuades? Customers see a few claims at a time and pick the most and the least convincing. Because they have to choose, you find out which claims really matter.
Down to the last two or three? Ask customers to rank them in order.
Hear the reasons
Knowing the winner is a start. You also need to know what to change before the pack goes to print or the ad goes live.
Add a video question and customers answer on camera from their phone, in their own words, for up to ninety seconds. You watch each answer on the results page and press Transcribe when you want the words in writing.
For a longer conversation, open an online discussion for a few days with the customers who chose the losing option. Or invite a small group to a recorded video session in the browser, where everyone agrees to the recording before they join. Afterwards you get a timestamped transcript, and every point the AI pulls out links to the moment it was said.
What you take into the meeting
You walk in with the winning option and the quotes that explain why. Split the results by the groups you care about, such as current buyers and lapsed ones, and show which group preferred the winner.
Ask the AI for the themes in what people wrote, or for a first draft of the report. Each saved AI report records the sources it used and how much of each it read, so anyone in the room can check where a finding came from. Any chart built on fewer than ten answers is flagged, so nobody quotes a number that thin by mistake.
Then download a PowerPoint deck with charts you can still edit, an Excel workbook, and an SPSS file for your analysts. They come from the same numbers, so the chart on the slide matches the table in the workbook.
How a test runs
Set up
Create a community, or use the one you already have. If you run several brands, give each survey that brand's logo and colours, so customers see the brand they know.
Write
Build the questions yourself, or describe what you need to learn and let the AI draft them. Already have the questionnaire in Word? Import it.
Invite
Invite customers already in your community, or new ones from your customer list. They get an invitation by email in the community's own design, or from your own WhatsApp Business number if they have opted in.
Collect
Answers, taps and videos reach you as customers respond.
Decide
Compare the groups that matter, pick the quotes and share the deck with your team.
Questions
Questions about concept testing
Can we test something that isn't finished?
Yes, and early is often the best time. A rough render, a mock-up or a half-built prototype gives customers enough to react to. Run a round, change the design, and ask the same people again.
Does everyone see every concept?
Only if you want them to. You can show a concept only to certain customers, such as current buyers. Concepts appear in the order you choose. If you want different customers to see a different option first, we'll plan that with you on the fit call.
Who takes part?
Your own customers. Invite them by email, or from your own WhatsApp Business number to people who have opted in, and decide whether anyone else can sign up.
Which plan does a concept test need?
Professional or Enterprise. Both include the pack shots, 3D models, prototypes, heat maps and claim ranking a concept test relies on. They also include video answers, live groups, AI themes and the PowerPoint, Excel and SPSS files. Only need one test? We quote it on the fit call as a one-off project for a set period.
